Joyful Hearts

Believing that SENIORS can make a difference, Brent Baptist Church provides an avenue of opportunity for seniors through a ministry designed specifically for them. As the senior adult (50+ generation) population continues to grow, a comprehensive program has been put in place for our "Joyful Hearts". Organized in October 2001, this ministry desires to touch each side of a senior's life through spiritual enrichment, learning, social interaction, and service opportunities.

The 4 Components of the Joyful Hearts Ministry:

1) Spritual Enrichment: Seniors are encouraged to participate in organized Bible study through Sunday School, Brent Academy, and regular worship service attendance.

Joyful Hearts attends an annual 3-day conference targeted toward senior adults each year.
A "Joyful Noise" choir has been created to encourage worship through song.

2) Learning: In order to stimulate the minds of our seniors, guest speakers are invited to speak and share information on a variety of topics for continued growth, physical health and safety.

A weekly exercise group meets in the JFLC

3) Social Interaction: Christian fellowship is an important need of senior adults. A PRIMETIME, scheduled once a month, allows seniors to meet for a time to play games, socialize, and eat a balanced meal for a very low cost.

Overnight Apple Trip in Sept/Oct
Day excursions such as trips to nearby places of interest, eateries, etc.
Other functions seniors may elect

4) Service Opportunities: With experience, knowledge and wisdom that comes with their age, our seniors find joy in the journey as they serve in all areas of the church. We are productive and contribute greatly to the overall ministries at Brent Baptist Church. You will find us serving as teachers, deacons, committee members, choir members, ushers, Caring Center workers, preparing food for fellowships, visiting the nursing homes, shut-ins and the sick, rocking babies in the nursery, helping with VBS and Living Bible Land...where a need is voiced, we answer!
